This clinic is an obstetrics and gynecology (OBGYN) clinic. “The Ochsner Women’s Services team provides a range of services from pregnancy and childbirth to routine exams. For expecting moms, the team provides a variety of childbirth options including alternative options such as water births, birthing chairs, balls and stools as well as traditional births and cesarean sections as needed” (Ochsner Health Center, 2013, p.1.). Ochsner has multiple clinics around the Baton Rouge area. The owner of this clinic decided to open other clinics in rural areas. This would allow the patients outside the greater Baton Rouge area accessibility the clinic. This clinic is expanding rapidly across Southern Louisiana. This clinic will provide many attributes to the town of Plaquemine. Oschner is allowing women in rural areas to receive proper obstetrics care. * Community or facility need for the building or renovation. * The community need for the facility was critical. In the city of Plaquemine, there was one hospital. The name of this hospital was River West Community Hospital (RWCH). This hospital covered emergency room visits, pediatrics, labor, and delivery.
