Effective Leaders     

Important people have become leaders over the years. These people have turned into some of the most influential individuals that have changed our society. These people have had the ability to influence the people that they meet.  Many leaders possess his or her leadership skills in different ways such as authoritative, democratic, coercive, pacesetting, and coaching. Effective leaders can easily adapt to the individuals or group that he or she are around and adapt to any situation they are facing. These types of leaders are also known to either enhance whatever the situation is or correct it to the best of his or her ability. Within the various styles of leadership, the most effective style is the authoritative style. Authoritative style brings about self-confidence, togetherness, and one that easily adapts to the environment that he or she is in. Also, employees respect this style because he or she is given directives that should be followed, and positive feedback is required. This brings me to some of our leaders today that have different leadership styles that people admire and respect them.

Admired Leader

            First Lady Michelle Obama came on the scene in 2007 at the Democratic Convention to support her husband and speak to the people. She has her deep concern for military families, helping women to balance between works and having a family, and encourages the national service (Bio, 2019).She is concerned with homeless people taking time out to help feed the poor, discussing the importance of education and volunteers that are needed. She has also taken a strong interest in the health of children and striving to fight obesity in youth. Mrs. Obama is always caring about people and wants to help them to see the better in life. She can be a nice, smart, helpful, mature, and happy person. She has expressed that gratitude and humility have been a factor as every American has faced in his or her lifetime. Through it all the people in which this lesson was learned from has had a hand in our success. She has indicated that she believes navigating the road to success is challenging, exciting, and sometimes treacherous, but with consistency, and passion, it is always conceivable that one can achieve the “human” dream. Then share in the uplifting, and enlightenment of others along the way. She maintains her confidence in everything that she is doing to make people understand the way of living healthy lifestyles, eating healthy, and defining his or her dreams. She also stands firm in what she believes and says and supports her husband at all costs.  She has recently had a deep concern about the economy growth and creating new jobs so that every person has a job. She demonstrates skills as a leader by promoting her husband in his presidency, setting goals, working, and continually making time for her family. She possesses a high level of community activism. She is persistent and uses her time well and is very strong-willed about making changes. Mrs. Obama feels the people she meets every day inspire her and make her proud. She is very proud to serve as the First Lady and is reminded every day by people how blessed she is to live on this earth. With all the work that the First Lady is doing to promote healthy eating for children, she believes that children do not like eating healthy food. Putting healthy foods on restaurant menus that are more tasteful for children will help with healthy eating. Mrs. Obama has showed extraordinary leadership skills in all that she possesses.

Leadership Qualities of Michelle Obama

            She is committed to completing her duties as a wife and a leader. She manages work and family. These are skills that make someone a great leader. She reveals warmth to people and knows what direction she wants to go in. She is motivated to completing any task that she puts her mind to. She is hard working and expects everyone else to be the same way. She inspires all people wherever she goes. Mrs. Obama plays a big part in the most important person of the world Mr. Obama. She creates her agenda like most leaders. She is concerned with uniting America as one. Committed to performing duties, helping others, and being supportive has helped Mrs. Obama become the person she is today. She is a Charismatic leader.

My Leadership Skills

            I would classify myself as having a Servant leadership style. I say this because although I am not a leader during my employment at one of my jobs, I knew what it would take to become a leader. The knowledge that I had to complete my job went beyond just my title. I took on other duties that were not my own, however, wanting to see work completed and people learning from others in my company. The information that employees receive will help the individuals to develop the skills they need to be best at their jobs. Managing to me is more than delegating duties to employees. It is also about listening, helping others, communicating effectively, understanding, and challenging the employee to be the best at what he or she does. I am an assessor, one that is very cautious about people and tend to evaluate people and tasks. Due to my leadership style, I would be more open to other people ideas and give the person the opportunity to perform tasks without stepping in. I would also utilize timeline constraints to complete tasks promptly on time. As a leader, I would be mindful of having strong opinions about others because every person deserves a chance to prove him or herself.

            As I evaluate myself with my admired leader, I noticed that I have to be more caring of other’s needs, evaluate my values and beliefs that will help me to be a good leader, and continue to be committed to my duties. I would think that I could work well with my admired leader because we possess some of the same qualities like being committed to people, work, and family. As for my mentor, I have been able to determine the leadership qualities I have and the ones I need to work on to help me in my leadership skills.
