Analyzing Two Different Architectures

For this journal we will be analyzing two different architectures, the first is Sagrada Familia and the second is Fallingwater. Generally, for these journals, we examine more than two sites, however, this will allow us to focus more on these forms. Both of which are very unique and spectacular. The first questions ask which of these architectures has made the biggest impact on today’s society. Although, to some degree both do, I would have to say that Fallingwater has made the largest impact. A few months ago, during Christmas break I was lucky enough to visit Las Vegas. It was my first time and I will never forget it. While there, I noticed that many of the hotels/casinos incorporated this design of Fallingwater. I feel that many other areas throughout the world also have such architecture, whether it is indoors or outdoors. The reason I feel it has had the largest impact because I have physically seen its manifestation. Therefore, I am certain that it has left a larger impression compared to the other architecture.

I feel, however, that the Sagrada Familia is more dramatic personally. When I watched the video, which not only revealed the art, but also told numerous interesting facts related to the architecture as well, I saw before my eyes the dramatic qualities located within. The building is absolutely beautiful. It was filled with many people and several designs and altar pieces as well. It almost reminded me of the chapter we studied on gothic art. All the beautiful hand-crafted arches and towers really added to its dramatic effect. I am certain that the artist wanted individuals to feel the drama within. It is very noticeable by all the detail and effort that was placed within. I feel that compared to the Fallingwater; this is rationally the better choice for most dramatic. That is, because the Fallingwater is quite simplistic in my mind. However, other viewers may just feel the opposite. Although, I certainly feel that this piece is the better choice when asked which is more dramatic.
